Projects
The 97-year-old building, formally owned by a bank, is located in the heart of Japan’s financial district, Nihonbashi Kabutocho. K5 is not only a boutique hotel, or merely a collection of the best restaurants and bars, but rather it compromises of ‘micro compounds’ that make the building one whole.
Bringing together unique collaborators to form a relationship (or rather, friendship) we collaboratively shaped the building into what we now call K5.
A major topic of discussion throughout the process was how to make non-quantifiable values outweigh their quantifiable counterparts. The challenge was to ensure that “experience” and “creativity” would always have an advantage over its quantifiable counterpart of economic rationality.
